Alibi Coffee Company is the first coffee roaster in the historic West Adams district here in Los Angeles. Our focus is on roasting quality specialty coffee at an accessible price. Alibi is an old school community shop with modern flair, and an attitude free approach. We love our coffee, and encourage our customers to enjoy theirs however they like. Alibi maintains that a great cup of coffee is as much about the conversations and time for oneself that surround it as it is the coffee itself - although that is pretty important too!

The story of Alibi Coffee Co. begins in 1922, the year our building was constructed...
Then skip ahead about a hundred years - We started in the industry brokering green coffee and wholesale roasting direct trade coffee. In 2016, Alibi Coffee Company was formed, and a new (old) roaster was purchased and refurbed in Derek's garage. In 2017 we began the build out for our first brick and mortar combining our small batch roasting operation with a classically styled café environment.
The shop and roastery is situated in a 1922 historic building located in the Harvard Heights district. Owners Will & Derek gutted the space, and renovated from the ground up. To save on costs they did the majority of the work themselves. Utilizing reclaimed material from the space and others sourced around LA, old lathe walls became counters, and a beautiful historic chandelier was saved from demolition. No piece was left untouched, including the breakdown and refinishing of both the espresso machine and roaster.
We take the same great care in crafting our coffee; working directly with farmers we have built relationships with and roasting everything fresh in house on our small batch roaster. Alibi is about going beyond great coffee, and realizing it is the conduit for great ideas, relationships, and time for oneself. We do our best to partner with like-minded business both in a wholesale capacity, as well as hosting events and community gatherings at our versatile shop space.

WILL HYNDMAN
From Seattle, Will is the Head Roaster and Coffee Director. A Marine Corps veteran and former first responder, he has had more than his fair share of coffee. He likes fruity cocktails, proper cappuccinos, and any animal your mother wouldn't let you have as a pet.
DEREK JAESCHKE
Originally from the Milwaukee/Chicago area, Derek is man of many hobbies and careers and is the Business & Branding end of Alibi. He takes his tequila on the rocks, his coffee black, and enjoys long walks on the beach.
